It was fantastic to see so much support from so many organisations at the Newark Dragonboat Festival 2022 last month! With more than 50 companies participating and 34 crews taking to the water, it turned out to be a wonderful day for both Beaumond House Hospice Care and the Children’s Bereavement Centre - and for the local community at large.

With record-breaking crowds of over 3,000, the final total for the event was £32,000 to be split evenly between these 2 very special charities.

As an event partner, Motorfinity decided to throw as much as it possibly could into the event this year from sponsoring 2 boats to designing and funding a new carnival attraction featuring stunning new Cupra models courtesy of Cupra UK. Decked with beautiful, festival flowers by Floral Media, the Formentor and the Born took centre stage in an area full of funfair activities for all the family sourced from The Prop Factory. We had a lot of fun dressing up in theatrical costumes provided by Prangster and had a great time fulfilling our promise to entertain the public as donations flooded in weighing down our charity buckets. This, together with events leading up to the day, meant that our entire company played a part raising £4,442 and were thrilled to be awarded the Best Fundraiser Trophy.

Katie Gibson, Fundraising and Marketing Assistant at the Children's Bereavement Centre commented:

“I can say that on behalf of everyone at the Children’s Bereavement Centre, we are delighted with the support we have received from stalls, entertainment, event partners, suppliers and of course, all the local families that came down to attend the event.
“We are so proud to co-host the Newark Dragon Boat Festival with Beaumond House and love to help bring the local community together, but we can’t do it alone. We are privileged to work with such great businesses and people all year round so it’s nice to give something back and put on a great day for everyone to enjoy.”

Beaumond House Hospice Care’s Head of Fundraising and Marketing, Cathy Lowe, said:

“From all of us at Beaumond House Hospice Care, it’s just an all-round thank you – Motorfinity included as it added so much to the day! We are so grateful that you continue to want to support us as it is a real pleasure to work with you all. Thank you again so very much!”

Massive shout out to everyone involved – it certainly was a great family day out. We’re already looking forward to Sunday 17 September 2023 – we’ll be there!
