The car in review, the Fiat 500 1.0 Mild Hybrid Dolcevita [Part Leather] 2dr, is a little, budget-minded gem from Motorfinity Leasing.
Billed as ‘Made of Italy’ rather than ‘Made in Italy’ with small, cute details signalling its heritage, the most iconic city car ever just got even more efficient and fun to drive.
Produced in Torino from 1957 -1975 for ordinary Italians just wanting a bit of post-war fun, it was originally just 6ft long - an affordable upgrade from 2 wheels to 4.
Then came the convertible called the Fiat Jolly – an ideal beach car for the Jet Set holidaying on Cote D’Azur. Italians know how to have fun, lead a simple life, and see the joy – the small Fiat is an iconic symbol of all of that. It’s not all about size, is it?!! It really is great fun!
If you’ve ever visited Italy or its islands driving the narrow streets and parking up, then the compact size makes complete sense! And now, here we are with this all-new version of the Jolly reinventing itself in this all-new model - the Dolcevita - to become more relevant in the world we live in today. With cities becoming increasingly congested and parking issues abundant, this re-emergence is very welcome.
How does this model compare to the first-generation Fiat 500? It’s very similar yet very different! It’s retained its cheeky, chic charm – retro sells – and has kept the familiar iconic shape and folding fabric roof. How wonderful is that! Roof down, fabulous vistas, smile on your face as you head out of the city for a well-earned break! Its rebirth has included the all-important 7” HD display with great graphics, Apple Carplay and Android Auto Connect, and access to a never-ending playlist for your much-deserved, open-top road-trip.
The mild hybrid’s self-charging ability gives a more relaxed, refined, and responsive driving experience as well as being more fuel efficient and lower on CO2 emissions.
If you’re not one of the ‘my car drives faster that yours’ brigade and you want hassle-free motoring in and out of town, then maybe this characterful, runabout just fits the bill for you.
Paying homage to its unmistakeable heritage, it is most certainly a head-turner with the new branding and fine chrome detailing.
